Coaching Services

According to the International Coach Federation (ICF), coaching is defined as a partnership with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential. Coaching is a client-driven process that’s distinct from other service professions, such as counselling, mentoring, consulting and training.

Research by the International Personnel Management Association (IPMA) found that ‘training on its own increases productivity by 22%, whereas combining it with coaching increases productivity by 88%’.

BSC coaches are all highly experienced coaches, mentors, supervisors and business people. Along with their professional coaching qualifications and support through our structured supervision and CPD, they have a scientific ability to get to the core of an issue. Our coaching services can be delivered both face to face and online to provide development opportunities and thinking space for senior managers, executives, business owners and self-employed individuals— anytime, anywhere.

Judith Barton

MSc, BA, Chartered FCIPD, MCMI, MInstLM, FRSA
Specialism: Executive, Leadership, Business, Career, Supervision

As the Founder and Director of Coaching and Mentoring at BSC, Judith leads the practice with 25 years experience of developing senior leaders in government and private sectors.  She has worked extensively in developing and delivering all of our programmes and works closely with our Director of Quality Assurance to ensure the highest professional standards in everything that we do.   In recent years she has led our work with the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK and for a major Education Group in the Middle East.  She also provides coaching supervision to the UK senior civil service including the Home Office.  Judith has led our expansion into the Middle East and in addition to delivering our in house and open programmes in the Region she enjoys her role as Executive Coach to Business & Professional Women in the Gulf following her appointment as Chief Assessor to three prestigious business awards.

Prior to BSC Judith had an impressive career in the public sector in health care management and higher education.

Her passion is using a highly effective solution-focussed approach in working with individuals to achieve their goals.

Brenda McKay

RN, DipN, MBA, FISQC, ILM L7 Cert.

Brenda is the Programme Director for the ILM Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring and also delivers the ILM Level 7 Executive Coaching and Mentoring programmes. In addition, we have a rapidly growing practice in wellbeing coaching which is led by Brenda. She has 26 years of experience working in the private sector using ​coaching and mentoring as a fundamental solution to issues of staff performance, collegiality, morale and support. Brenda was also key in maximising resources and team performance through periods of change in senior management in the private and public health care sector. As a board member, her responsibilities were for a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural workforce which included a leadership team as well as other staff.  Brenda is also very active in developing coaching within the public sector as a discipline and supports various projects as a personal tutor and coach supervisor. Her mission is to help others to make lasting and effective positive change by using proven and easy to apply, methods. Her approach encourages and supports the individual towards reflection and action, to overcome obstacles, turning them into positive results, thus helping individuals achieve accountability, personal satisfaction and balance.

Martin Hill

LLB(Hons), AMAC, FInstLM, FISQC, ILM L7 Cert, Accredited Coaching Supervisor (AOCS)

Martin is the Programme Director for the ILM Level 7 Executive Coaching and Mentoring and leads the delivery of this programme in the UK.  He is a very experienced trainer with a background in the public sector and over 20 years involvement in delivering training programmes to senior leaders and operational staff.  Martin is also very active in developing coaching as a discipline and has held various ‘extra-curricular’ roles within the profession, eg Committee Member EMCC and leads the group supervision work for the BSC network. He is also an Accredited Coaching Supervisor with the Association of Coaching Supervisors (AOCS)

As a coach Martin aims to provide a professional, ethical, non-judgmental and safe environment to facilitate the client to develop their skills and knowledge in order to achieve their goals, resulting in performance improvements for themselves and/or the organisation.

He most enjoys seeing the pleasure and excitement of a client who has achieved a “breakthrough” moment. He enjoys the unpredictability and excitement of not knowing what a client will bring to the session and the exhilaration of exploring the options and discoveries that the coaching conversation brings to the client, helping them achieve their potential.

John Macdonald

John Macdonald brings to our coaching practice a 30 year career in human resource management with significant exposure to senior executive teams and boards of directors. As a coach at executive and senior management level, John engages with clients who are looking to enhance performance, develop differentiated leadership behaviour, transition to broader roles, build productive working relationships or develop themselves for their next career step.

John’s style is very much focused on encouraging the client to develop challenging personal goals, raise self-awareness through effective questioning, listening and reflection, think creatively to develop ideas and solutions and take ownership of outcomes that will move the client forward. He is able to do this by combining his coaching skills and toolkit with an empathy for clients in the corporate world, all of which contributes to a productive, trusting and confidential relationship managed within clearly defined expectations and roles.

Virginia Raymond

ILM L2, L3 & L7 Cert.

Virginia’s background is in the Performing Arts, which included many years of teaching dance in education in primary and secondary schools in Dubai. This has given her a unique skill set in terms of working collaboratively and instinctively in a coaching style, knowledge and skills which have been built on and refined through a series of ILM qualifications. As well as working with children, Virginia has also supported teaching colleagues, including middle leaders in education, in dealing with the day to day stressful situations that exist in many schools today. She has a particular interest in developing Young Leaders and enjoys working with women who are also small business owners. Both of these areas present their own peculiar challenges, challenges which are of special relevance in the current economic and social environment.

Angie Turner

Angie is a qualified coach and mentor with over 25 years’ experience of helping business and public sector leaders to unlock their full potential.   Her insight into the pressures and challenges faced by senior management has been gained through a number of senior leadership roles in financial services and technology sectors.

Combining a coaching style which her clients describe as ‘very pragmatic, solutions focussed and challenging yet supportive’ with this senior-level experience, Angie can quickly identify the challenges faced by clients.  She then helps them to explore their true potential and discover and overcome what may be holding them back.

Angie’s naturally calm, focussed style allows her to ask challenging and insightful questions that help clients to see complex issues more clearly.   She is always supportive and very flexible, recognising that there are no ‘one size fits all’ solutions and that what works for one organisation may not for another.    She gains huge satisfaction from helping to inspire clients to see alternative perspectives and find real solutions to difficult issues. Her positive and encouraging support inspire her clients to see alternative perspectives and find practical and workable solutions to achieve their goals.
